nah but ive been to belize and it was a littleeeeeeeeeeee scaryyy

I went March last year. Wonderful country.
Visited Cartagena, Medellin, Bogota, Tunja, Villa de Leyva, Bucaramanga, Santa Marta, Tayrona, and small villages I found in the way (I travelled by bus. On my own until I met other foreigner in Bogota + went together)
By the way, I know is the coke country, but I麓ve seen more Charlie going on in any London club than there.
No one kidnapped me, robbed me or any disgrace like that. People was lovely, welcoming and helpful all the time.
I would love going back. Shame on the 600 quid for the air plane ticket...

There is a Y!A user called 'ccoz'. She lives in Colombia. I don't know if it's against the rules to suggest people, but she gave some help to another user who was asking about Colombia.I've been to South America twice. It's really a great place, and the people everywhere were very friendly and helpful. People in the mountains chew cocaine leaves across much of South America, but not for a 'drug'. It stops altitude sickness, and is legal. Processed cocaine is illegal, and the drug barons de-stabilise the economy with it. Nearly everyone in Colombia is sick of the drug association, and want it stopped.

A good friend of mine is from Barranguilla, Columbia. She says it's great for beach lovers. Pink dolphins in the river there. Stay in the big cities and in the better areas and you should be fine. Don't travel the roads through the mountains or between cities and don't "look rich."
