Columbian Exchange??

Why is it actually called the Columbian Exchange? I mean really?

The exchange of goods and technologies (among other things) that happened between the Americas, Europe, and Africa was essentially started when Columbus landed in the Caribbean in 1492. pretty sure that's why.
