What are the best things to see in south america?

My friend and me are planning a trip to sth america next year we are two girls who speak no spanish where are the best places to go and do you recomend a tour in certain parts of south america? because it is not safe?

In my opinion, Venezuela is the best thing to see in South America. The country is beautiful, diverse and the people are just as great. Danger is everywhere, tension is especially high in the Colombian-Venezuelan border but it is easy to avoid that, just stay away from the border towns/cities.

Machu Pechu in Peru, The Madonna in Santiago Chile, The Straghts of Magellan, the "Torres Del Paine" in Patagonia Chile, Buenos Aries, and I have yet to make it to Brazil though very dangerous for Americans I am still dieing to go there and I am going to Costa Rica in a few months.

The only country in South America truly dangerous for americans is Brazil. Chile is very friendly just do your research but Brazil Americans are kidnapped regularly.

I would not recommend going. I've heard some really bad stories about Americans or for that matter any no locals going to South America. Just be careful with your passport and valuable belongings. They can steal your passport and make you stay and do god knows what and you have no way of getting out of there. I thought that they really didn't care for American's.

Oh Brother. Venezuela is not a good place for Americans. Colombia is, if you are careful. Peru, (macchu picchu is wonderful) Chile and the easter Islands, Ecuador and the Galapagos, Igauzu falls in Argentina, Bariloche to ski in July, Uruguay is fairly safe. Just dont dress to the 9s.. dont flash a lot of cash.. dont every take a cab off the street, dont carry a purse if you can help it or if you do, dont put valuables in it. Talk to the locals.. they can tell you where is good and bad. Ive never been to Brazil, but I would certainly go if I had the chance. You would need two or three lifetimes to see the stuff in just one country.. try www.tripadvisor.com might be worth looking at.

lima, peru -great food, great culture, city by the sea
iguazu falls, argentina,mind blowing, but a little too into the forest, can be tiring
puerto varas, chile, to watch volcanoes reflection on lakes, very similar to germany.
manuel antonio and arenal, costa rica, one is a beach in a national park, forest preserve, monkeys wanting to steal your sunglasses and cheap bars up front. arenal has termal waters and a volcano that is active and its just amazing to see it during the night, like fireworks
antigua, guatemala, its like everything looks very colonial and old, and then theres a bunch of trendy clubs inside the colonial facades
bocas del toro, panama, prettiest ocean sights in my opinion, and nice people

all these places i found were absolutely gorgeous, pretty safe and fun. you might want to learn a few words in spanish just in case, but in general i found them quite welcoming to tourists. just well, dont be naive.

The best places in any trip are the ones interesting you, if you don't like old stones you can have other things to do.
All Latino american countries have in common the quality of their population, which is very open and trusty.
You can visit many nice places already named by the others, try to learn some simple words in castellano, this will help you to be nice to the locals. Latino America is not more dangerous than US there are no crazy students firing guns to their mates or assaulting you on the highways, crime exist everywere, don't be afraid and you will not atrack the danger.
Each country has its beauties, your choice will depend in the time you have and in your points of interest as you are two you should also know what your friend likes doing, like that both of you will have nice souvenirs. Today by internet you can obtain all the info you need for a nice trip.

Just don't go around showing jewerly (obviously unless you are in a night club or party, wedding, restaurant, etc) use your common sense, just not outside on the streets. Of course again, if you are in good areas then you can but if you are in an area like bronze at 3 am, of course not. Common sense! there are dangerous and safe places in the US as well. You need to stick to the areas that are visited by tourists all the time. Then you should be ok. Take taxis that belong to COMPANIES (not the private ones) and hang out with locals, locals are awesome, they know where to take you and are usually very welcoming around SouthAmerica.

I have been in Peru and the people and the food are AMAZING! go to Machupichu and the Amazon...really safe over there.

Brazil too. Its beautiful.
