Is being latin also being spanish? |
Is being latin also being spanish? Being Spanish means having been born in Spain. Being latin would be a genre that includes all people from all countries with a language that derived from latin: France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Central and South American countries, etc. This is the proper meaning, for the word is really misused. Well my friend is Guatamalen and he always talks about how the Spanish conqured South America and enslaved the Mayan and Aztec native people. And interbreeding began and soon there were mixed babies and they became native to South America but had native and spanish blood so they were considered "Dirty" and their language was still Spanish though. So Mexicans and Latino people are considered just that... but it really depends on them, my friend says some of his friends from Mexico consider themselves more like Spanish, but he likes his Mayan roots better so just considers himself Native or Latino... its an open ended question to be answered by an individual really! When people say they are latin they usually mean South American. South American people are not the same as Spanish people (they just speak spanish) usually people call spanish people to people who speak spanish, no matter where you come from No . Spanish people are from Spain. and Latin people are from Latin America Actually, If you're from Spain, you're a Spaniard, not Spanish. Calling people spanish is a slang term people use because they speak spanish...like black or white when people mean, African or Caucasian. |
