How big is the average Italian home?

Will be moving to Northern Italy in a year and have heard american furniture is oversized and won't really fit in most european homes. Wondering what size bed will fit in a bedroom. Basically how much furniture will fit in the average home. And one more question. How easy is it to find furniture in Italy?

Thanks in advance.

The size of my apparment in Rome is much bigger then the appartments of my friends in New York.
Depend on how much you can or want to spend.
A standard size app. is 120 mq (1300 SqFt )
Find forniture is really easy, there re a lot of big forniture stores:
for example http://www.mondoconv.it/

Ciao. Appartments are more or less 100 square meters. Bed size is usually double place (mt. 1,90 x mt, 1.60)
You find nice and not expensive furnitures especially in Veneto zone (Padova, Treviso, etc...)

Waiting for you ; )

It's vary a lot, actually it does only depends on how you plan to spend for the apartment/house, and this also depends a lot on the city/town... An average three people family (clerks, laborers, ...) may usually live in a 60 to 110 square meters apartment or something like semi-detached or row houses.
Usual size of a bed, is easier: near 200x160 cm.
Furniture in Italy is VERY easy to find, various price ranges.
If I move five miles from my home, I' going to find six or seven places where I can buy a full furnishing.

There are homes of all sizes, it depends on what budget you're on! Some apartment blocks have narrow stairs and no elevator and the apartments can be as small as 50 square meters! But average apartments/houses are 70-100 square meters, spacious and well built. You can fit a king size bed in most homes.
It is very easy to find furniture in Italy, of very good quality and affordable too (and there's always Ikea as a last resort!).

Hi Sasha, I'm Italian and live in Italy. I agree with Martina, when she says that usually Italian houses are about 70-100 square meters. It also depends on where you go to live. City houses are smaller, country houses can be very big and have many rooms, big spaces, garden, and so on.
Furniture is easy to find: expecially in Northern regions, because there are many forniture stores and also craftsmen that even build whatever you like (expecially in Veneto region).
Welcome to Italy!
