April 08 Honeymoon in Italy 鈥?Need Itinerary Help for 10 Days of Sightseeing?

I am going to Italy for my honeymoon in April. I can鈥檛 come up with an itinerary I鈥檓 happy with, in part because my fianc茅 wants it to be a very laid back/romantic trip, whereas I want to see as much as I can. The itinerary we鈥檝e settled on for now (excluding train time) is to spend the first 2 陆 days in Rome, then on to Venice for 2 days, then to Florence for 1.5 days, then Siena/Montalcino for 2 days before spending another full day in Rome before departure. How workable is this, and, if something needs to be cut out/rearranged to make this the best possible honeymoon, what would you recommend (sights/cities)?

Your plan is workable, yes. Just a few considerations:
I would spend more days in Rome: it麓s a huge city and it can makes both you and your fianc茅 happy. The only problem is that it麓s REALLY touristic, maybe too much, not the proper place to pass some romantics moments. So let麓s say 3/4 days in Rome.
You have to see Venice: remember that it takes at least 5 -6 hours to get there from Rome (Italian train-system sucks, don麓t rely on it!). It麓s the most romantic city in the world, very crowded, watch your wallet!!! Especially if you are a tourist the always try to steal your money (for example 25 euros for a pizza...). I would suggest to stay in Venice 2 days but just 1 nite.
Now, still 4 days.
Toscana is a great choice: but Montalcino is too small, I麓d rather stay 1 day in Florence, 1 day Siena AND San Gimignano (medieval town full of towers, unique in its style).
If you have time go to the region called "Liguria": a few hours from Florence, I suggest towns like Porto Venere (the whole environment it麓s called "Le cinque terre", beautiful and romantic+by the sea!!).
It will be impossible for you to see the south of Italy, but I reckon this itinerary should leave you satisfied.
I hope my informations can help u.
Have fun in Italy
CIAAAOOOO

my first advice is to start from Venice (2 days) and then go down and down passing from florence (1 full day) siena (half day is enough) i don t know montalcino, and then Rome 3 days minimun. All distant one another 1 hour and half in train. All 4 city are already a sightseen, i mean, walking around in venice is already a magic new world if you never been. same florence and siena. Rome is bigger but just ask where fontana di trevi is and everybody know, all the other sightseen are around there pretty much like piazza di spagna, go ahed and end up in campidoglio, capitolino..then .colosseo. need good shoes, lots of good walk.very good. Rome is fantastic. If your trip start in rome so do the backwords. Rome, Siena, Florence,Venice. Tell your fiance that is not going to be a relaxing trip. Lots of walk and dealing with crazy drivers. so becarfull to the drivers and traffic. Aware of taxi drivers too. they take advantage of american turists. taxi fare is really expansive
have fun.

Generally stick with recommendations given, but more importantly, should you pay a bit more attention to what your fiance is saying? If yes then cut Siena and add to Florence and Rome. You can always rent a car for a day to get out in the Tuscan countryside. Venice is nice, but the canals stink, make it just one night

hello, for this kind of tours and itinerary i suggest you to visit this website www.ariannandfriends.com. they can help you in personalizing your stay in Tuscany at the best!

Pretty good itinerary a fairly good balance of seeing the sites and leisure time. Others have some excellent recommendations - so discuss everything with your fiance.

One important thing to plan for your trip to Florence - some of the "big" tourist sites in Florence require advance reservations (e.g., Last Supper, etc.) - so be sure and make arrangements in advance so you don't arrive and be disappointed at not seeing what you came for!
