Historical Importance of Italy?

What is the historical importance of Italy? Is there a website with great pictures and info. Going this summer and want to learn all I can.

Hi, I am Italian (Trentino) ..
Excuse my bad English ..
If come and visit, these cities rich in history:
Rome, Venice, Florence, Pisa ..
If you have time, looks even Milan Siena ..
Florence, Siena and Pisa is in the same region.
Even Naples is very beautiful but in this period will discourage others to go because the situation is critical ..

Hi,
there was a website which was supposed to present Italy, but it was so terrible that it has been canceled. Apparently it only costed 7 million euros! Anyway if you click Rome you will find lots of historical information concerning the whole of Italy.
Don't miss Tuscany, that's where I live!

Try the article "Italy" on Wikipedia, it should work.

The whole of Italy is an open air Museum. At the turn of the Century I launched and managed the first 3 years of Mirabilia, the National Culture Communication Programme, with 12 Regional agencies and we catalogued over 30.000 鈥渨orthy sites鈥? Italy, with Rome was central in the European cultural scene for centuries and was the home of the Renaissance, which rapidly spread throughout the Continent.

There are lots of Web sites, but I鈥檒l give you just one, which adopted Goethe鈥檚 and other authors 鈥淕rand Tour鈥?as a title. It鈥檚 multilingual so you can browse at will.

Tips ? Qualify your particolar interest and I鈥檒l give you a few guidelines.

ps we had nothing to do with Marina's Web programme, of which I have heard, we just created and placed the metal-ceramic signpost indicators in front of the monuments. In Rome alone there are over 350.

pps for accomodation try browsing through the other web site, you can even rent "Historical" appartments. It's also multilingual and has pictures of Rome (lots), Florence and Venice.

Italy is really a fascinating country rich in historical cities, literature, culture, amazing landscapes known all over the world.

In Italy( from North to South )you can enjoy different kind of tourism: sea, mountain, art cities and many more!!!

I give you some useful web-site to discover Italy history:
