If I have a valid U.S. drivers license, do I need an International Drivers Permit for Ireland? The purposeof the international drivers permit is to have your driving info in the language of the country you are visiting...it is not a license, but just documentaion that you have a license in your home country. Since Ireland is an English speaking country, I would think the international permit would not be needed. See site below and read first sentence under "Driving information."
