If i am in the north of ireland do i need a passport to travel to the south?

No..........you won't even notice a "border"

no ireland is still in the EU as far as im aware yu can travel anywher in the EU with an Eu passport!

You need to have some form of valid photo ID travelling through the Republic, a passport is good, but a driver's licence will also suffice.

no you just walk over the border... unless your flying of course

May be an idea to bring your passport or driver's licence as form of photo i.d. only. Not necesery to travel North to South.

No. PLease ignore the first answer tho, you DO need a passport to travel around the EU, just the island of Ireland you should be ok. If you are taking a plane you may need a passport but a bus/car/train you will not.

no u dont, there are no border checks

Legally , in Eire (southern Ireland) you should have your passport with you. In reality it is unlikely that anyone will ask for it. I am English and I have been on a coach from Belfast to Dublin . No one asked to see my passport . I realised that I had crossed the border when I started to see roadsigns in Gaelic. They use the Euro in the South though , they don't in the north.

No. But you may need one if you are booking into a hotel.

No......I go from the South to shop in the North sometimes, and I've never needed a thing. I've never seen any borders.

Depends on your nationality. If you are British then no. If you are Northern Irish then no. If you are European i.e. a member of the EU then no.

But always carry some form of ID.

nope ya mad,its still in Ireland its not another country!!
I live around 10mins away from the Northern border and have been to the North loads,ya dont need anything dont worry!

no but you'll need some protection money
