Why people from North East r called CHINKY in mainland India, specially Delhi.?

Probably because of their Mongoloid features. I am also from the NE, but not of Mongoloid origin. In any case, I believe that this is highly derogatory and only shows the prejudice of the North Indians and their lack of culture. As a friend from North East had once said, "The people of Delhi have no culture, they only have agriculture."

The word Chikna or chikni means smmoth and glossy.

The north east people are whitish, soft looking and that's why they are called Chikni.

usually , t he word chinky is a nickname that we children in north india have....the people from NE have a bit childish feature (not in derogatory sense but in sense of purity and innocence) and so the word might have come to existance for them......and mind it its not only in north india or in India but een in US and europe also.
