Making it big in Bollywood?

I'm an actress living in New Zealand. I recently made a contact with a Bollywood Star, who is suggesting I move to Bombai, learn Hindi, and give the Bollywood scene a good go.

I am very tempted to do this, as I know there is an increasing success of non-indian/asian actors/actresses there. As the world becomes more mixed, the scripts for films also become more international, and require more foreigners.

I'm prepared to learn Hindi, and this Bollywood Actor believes my talent and looks mean I could have a chance.

I'm after advice from people who have experienced this, or who are Indian/Asian. Where is it best to live? What is the cost of living in Bombay, is it safe for a woman to live alone? What are some of the cultural differences I should know about?

you should def. give it a try..it could turn out to be a great experience for you..and you're right about the scripts becoming more international...and even if it doesn't..you could definitely try bollywood as a medium to make it big in those indo-western movies (like water, bend it like beckham)
I guess, you shouldn't be too worried about living in mumbai alone etc..I'm sure many women have done it..just take a few general precausions like avoid talking to strangers..etc..

It all depends upon your own talent, how much you TRUST that chap who offered to help and your own finances.
