the links dont work...

Look at this link you'll find what you need, if you want to search further look for:
Jugendherberge (youth hostel in german language) or
youth hostel (english speaking informations)

www.jugendherberge.de/jh/hamburg-stint...
www.hamburger-bildungsserver.de/djh/jg...
www.djh-berlin-brandenburg.de
www.hostels.com/en/availability.php/Ho...
www.people-in-berlin.de/hostels.htm
www.hostelbookers.com/hostels/germany/...

The first link is a online service allowing for booking ahead of time, they have a list of info, specific websites for the hostels and decent info to go on.
The second one is another booking site, but not as good as the first one. It has different sites and the info was not quite as good.
The third is another site with decent info on booking a hostel fairly cheap. The prices are listed in the margins so you can start in the range you are looking for! Good trip to you, I hope you fall as madly in love with Germany as I did when I was stationed over there!!!

U will love Hamburg - an amazing city. Try to avoid Berlin .. too many Nazis. I travel to Hamburg every year!
