Is there currently a smoking ban in germany?

Is there currently a smoking ban in germany?

It's currently different in each federal state - some have introduced bans, some haven't. I live in Baden-W眉rttemberg in southwest Germany and yes, there is one here, although if a pub/club or whatever offers a "smoking room" too, then people can smoke there. One was also introduced in Bavaria recently, however, you can't smoke at all now there as far as I'm aware, so there are not even any "smoking rooms".

I live in Bavaria and a lot of pubs are now clubs to get round the ban.....these anti smoking people are a pain...bloody do-gooders

not..not in all places

There is. I live in Bavaria, and the pub I go to allows smoking on a half-legal basis: They declared it a private club, but the law does not actually allow them to do so, nor does it actually forbid it.

Smoking is banned in Germany, technically, from all public buildings, working places (You're not allowed to smoke in your office anymore, but the company may install a smokers' room), pubs and restaurants. They forgot to put a ban on smoking on the street, or spitting on the pavement, or at the government. -- Oops, sorry: There is a ban on THAT. Spitting at an MdB ("Mitglied des Bundestages", "member of parliament") goes for around 600 euros and three months probation. There was a woman who tried. Wonder what would have happened if she'd hit her target.

Yes there is a smoking ban in Germany. In all train stations and government buildings along with most restaurants.

Only in some areas! Check where you are going the locals there can tell you the laws!

Some places have banned smoking in public restaurants and such but not all places have!

Yes. How extensive it is depends on which state you are in, but light up in a public indoor space and there is a good chance that it will cost you money.

Yes in most public places. If in doubt - no one else smoking, no ashtray, probably means no smoking.

there is smoking and non smoking....for the most part....it varies by coffee shop and resturaunt and region....but if your use to the states then its about the same here....just went into effect for the bayern region in january and was already in hessen and other regions for a while........I live here and i think its good.....because if i want to go out to eat with my family...well my kids should not have to inhale smoke and be poisioned because of someone elses ignorance......oh and I smoke too but outside on the balcony by myself with the door shut..........maybe it will kill me but i dont want it to kill someone else let alone my wife or kids.....

no smoking in public buildings

since Jan 1st: no more smoking in any clubs/bars either

nein !
