Can anyone translate 脡dith Piaf - La Foule?

脡dith Piaf-La Foule. Can anyone translate this song? I really like it but i have no idea what she is singing about.

I'm so happy to hear i'm not the only one who likes her...she is wonderful.

Je revois la ville en f锚te et en d茅lire I can see the city in celebration and delirious
Suffoquant sous le soleil et sous la joie Suffoquant under the sun and under the joy
Et j'entends dans la musique les cris, les rires And I hear in the music screams, laughs
Qui 茅clatent et rebondissent autour de moi Who broke and bounce around me
Et perdue parmi ces gens qui me bousculent And lost among these people who bump into me
脡tourdie, d茅sempar茅e, je reste l脿 脡tourdie, helpless, I left there
Quand soudain, je me retourne, il se recule, Suddenly, I returned, it recedes,
Et la foule vient me jeter entre ses bras... And the crowd just throw me in her arms ...
Emport茅s par la foule qui nous tra卯ne Emport茅s by the crowd that we lag behind
Nous entra卯ne We leads
脡cras茅s l'un contre l'autre 脡cras茅s against one another
Nous ne formons qu'un seul corps We only one body
Et le flot sans effort And the flow effortlessly
Nous pousse, encha卯n茅s l'un et l'autre We shoot, chained both
Et nous laisse tous deux And let us both
脡panouis, enivr茅s et heureux. 脡panouis, drunk and happy.
Entra卯n茅s par la foule qui s'茅lance Trained by the crowd that starts
Et qui danse And dancing
Une folle farandole A mad farandole
Nos deux mains restent soud茅es Our two hands remain welded
Et parfois soulev茅s And sometimes raised
Nos deux corps enlac茅s s'envolent Our two body embracing soar
Et retombent tous deux And both fall
脡panouis, enivr茅s et heureux... 脡panouis, drunk and happy ...
Et la joie 茅clabouss茅e par son sourire And joy witnessing his smile
Me transperce et rejaillit au fond de moi Me and pierces redounds to the bottom of me
Mais soudain je pousse un cri parmi les rires But I suddenly grows a cry among the laughs
Quand la foule vient l'arracher d'entre mes bras... When the crowd just tear of my arms ...
Emport茅s par la foule qui nous tra卯ne Emport茅s by the crowd that we lag behind
Nous entra卯ne We leads
Nous 茅loigne l'un de l'autre We away from one another
Je lutte et je me d茅bats I fight and I debate
Mais le son de sa voix But the sound of his voice
S'茅touffe dans les rires des autres S'茅touffe laughter in the other
Et je crie de douleur, de fureur et de rage And I shouted with pain, fury and rage
Et je pleure... And I cry ...
Entra卯n茅e par la foule qui s'茅lance Trained by the crowd that starts
Et qui danse And dancing
Une folle farandole A mad farandole
Je suis emport茅e au loin I am swept away
Et je crispe mes poings, maudissant la foule qui me vole And I crispe my fists, cursing the crowd that I stole
L'homme qu'elle m'avait donn茅 The man she had given me
Et que je n'ai jamais retrouv茅... And I never found ...

I don't know how to translate it, but, I must say, I'm so happy to know someone else likes Edith!!!!!

Wow! Can't say I can fully translate but, its good to know I'm not the only Edith Piaf fan out there. I will monitor this answer. Thanks for asking. I got the CD in the car, and I have and hour ride this afternoon, can't wait.

On the run now. Can't do it word for word. ( Not for 10 points I can't do anything with anyhow!) But it has to do with how she was in a crowd and how she got pushed up against this guy she was attracted to. There was nothing either of them could do, they just had to react along with the crowd. And then she never sees him again.

Etoile pour toi!!!

I first heard Edith in the movie "Saving Private Ryan". I didn't know who was singing but I had to find out and now I have three of her records. Like you, I haven't a clue what she is saying but isn't it fantastic just the same? As far as your translation goes, get yourself a French dictionary. You should find something there. Good luck. (And mostly, she sings about heartbreak.)
