Where is a good town to visit for a day near Angers, France? Possibly on the Atlantic Coast?

My friend is coming to visit in Angers, France for a week, and we have a day free where nothing is planned. Any suggestions of places we could go for the day? We plan to see Paris, but I would like to take her to a nice town on the Atlantic Coast, or somewhere else near Angers. Suggestions?

La Rochelle

I would suggest one of the castles around there. Blois or Amboise are close and easy to get to from Angers.

Tours is good too, a bit bigger than Angers.

Getting out to the coast sounds like a bit of a project for one day, and I don't think the beaches are that nice.

Coast is too far in a day. Fleamarkets at Montsoreau (2nd Sunday) Chinon (3rd) or Tours (4th). Any of the chateaux - Villandry for the gardens, Angers for the tapestry, Azay le Rideau for the architecture or Chenonceaux just to say you've been there. Christian Martin's wine caves at Montlouis. Jean-Fran莽ois Delalay's vineyards at Chinon. Auction Wednesdays at 12 rue des Ar猫nes. Tell them I sent you.

A good site to visit is:www.experienceloire.com for Angers and surrounding area.

Ahhh okay I spent a few days in Angers last year. We took a day trip to Mont St Michel, its an hour or two away and its super cool. Then after Angers we travelled down to the ocean to a small beach town near Rochefort (near la Rochelle) it was really cute. There was some good shops and its really nice because its like France, (cobble streets, etc) but then theres palm trees and sand.. its a nice mix, I suggest trying la Rochelle and around that area.
