What kind of money did they use in France in 1999?

I need it for a writing assinment and the setting is France and I need to know what money they used in France in 1999(March 10,1999 to be exact). I think it is Euro currently , but i'm not sure if it was the same then because they changed it recently.

it's FRANC !!!
because it was euro for banks and international exchanges, but Franc coins for people, until 1/1/2002.

its the same in other european countries.

remember 1 鈧?= 6.55957 FF

Good question

France joined 11 other EU members to launch the Euro on January 1, 1999, with euro coins and banknotes completely replacing the French franc (鈧? in early 2002.

The euro replaced the franc on January 1, 1999, so the answer is the euro. Please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_fran...

the franc
