Was anybody in France the day Nicolas Sarkozy was elected?

Does anybody know how the french public reacted, or a website in french (or english) about it?

I was there. I live in France but I didn't vote. I am tired and sick of every politician. They are all liars and it proves I am right again.
At that day they were over the moon about the result, because Sarkozy was a very good actor and he promised a lot of things, he behaved so sincerely that people were so touched.
And now look what he's done : raised up his own salary 3 times, divorced and getting married again ( none of our business it's his private life only it caused a scandal ), he's pro-American so we are worry that France will be involved in war,he wants everybody to be Christian, he promised everyone can work as much as they can instead of the 35 hours per week by law but he didn't keep his promise, and the list is endless---
Now the majority of the French people regret to vote for him.

Something in excess of 60 million people were there. A minority were were foreign nationals or under voting age (18 in France). By definition, the majority of the French people who voted were delighted.

I wasn't but I watched the French campaign and election night from America on TV5. Obviously 53% of voters were ecstatic and celebrating and 47% were in tears. If you include the whole population (those that didn't/couldn't vote or had prefered other candidates), about half of the population was happy and optimistic and half was sad or angry, as in all presidential elections. You can find dozens of videos of the street reactions on youtube or dailymotion:

There were also a couple of nights of rioting around Place de la Bastille led by ultra-left wing activists.

Then in July 67% approved of his policies/style, then 54% early January and now only 41% so the first few months a majority were happy with his policies and different style but now he gets on people' nerves (especially since he went so public about his private life) and everyone is back to normal which means they are all complaining about everything under the sun because it's what the French do best: whine, complain and think the grass is greener elsewhere. If there were Olympics for complaining, we'd get gold, silver and bronze! (actually, Slavic people are worse than us at whining so they may get the gold which would leave us with another reason to complain! damn!)
