Well I think that the most famous french song or at least french tune, because the lyrics were changed to english, not translated, just totally re-written would have to be "My Way". When you look at who wrote "My Way", you will see a C. Francois. It is, of course, the original "Comme d'Habitude" by Claude Francois.
