How would I get from Paris, France to Bordeaux, France?

I am going to France next week and would like to go to Bordeaux for a day. How would I get there? Is Bordeaux better than Champagne, France?

I figure to take the train. But which one? Where? How much?

Yes, the Bordeaux region is more attractive than the Champagne (weather, landscapes) but as Rillifane said it is a bit far for a day trip. If you are looking for a wine region not too far from Paris, Burgundy is a better compromise: very very lovely place and closer than Bordeaux. You could take a train to one of my favorite towns in France: Beaune. It is a 2hr07 trip and can cost as little as 22 euros. There is a 6:58 train on weekdays.

Here is the Beaune tourist office website: http://www.ot-beaune.fr/567000001/home-b...
If you should visit only one place in Beaune it's got to be the Hospices : http://www.hospices-de-beaune.com/gb/hos...
Bordeaux is a major city and the vineyards are spread in a large zone and are far from the city center so it wouldn't be easy to get to in a day, whereas Beaune is a smaller town and a very short drive to a lot of vineyards. You can also stay in the town for wine-tasting, it's available everywhere.

train?

Trains leave from the Gare Montparnasse to Bordeaux several times a day. The trip takes a bit over three hours and costs as little as about 45 euros. Given the travel time, Bordeaux is not a smart choice for a daytrip.

You can book online at http://www.raileurope.com/us/rail/fares_...

there is only one train company in france so you won't have choice sncf.com you'll find the timetable and fares.
But don't go to bordeaux just for one day stay a couple of days or as millie said go to another place closer than bordeaux.
