Slavic/Eastern European flags?

Why do Slavic flags like Poland, Hungary, Russia, Germany, Ukraine, and a lot more of them have two or three stripes going across and have (or had) a bird on the top stripe?

The birds are the coats of arms of the old kingdoms that were once the modern countries, it seems the eagles or 2 head eagles like Russia or Austria were very popular in that times.
And the colors are derived some times from the coat of arms, for example in Poland the red and white came from the white eagle and red background of the coat of arms.
Or are the national colors.

Hungary and Germany are nowhere near Slavic nations.
Most of the Slavic countries have a tricolor, a flag with three stripes. Red, blue, and white are considered Pan-Slavic colors, but in the case of Serbia, red and blue are also found on flags of the 13th-century kingdom of Serbia, long before the Pan Slavic ideas were born. I don't think there are birds in these flags, and again, it is only the official Serbian flag that has the two-headed white eagle with a gold crown and a coat-of-arms.
