Travelling to Victoria, Canada from Washington state. Any international fees for credit card or AT&T mobile? |
Headed to Victoria, Canada and was wondering if I was going to get dinged on international fees for credit card transactions or making and receiving calls with my AT&T cell phone. I dont know about your Visa, you will have to call them directory to inquire. Yes, you will be Dinged for roaming charges on your cell phone. AT&T is Rogers here (I think) and whenever I go to WA I get charged roaming fees. The only international issue will be with your cellphone and the lady who responded first is right, when using your credit card you CC company charges you the amount in AM$, and depending on the current rate of exchange and that can varied on the country and when you CC company receives the charge and the daily rates, right now our dollar i worth between 97-98 cents AM, so you catch a break, of a few pennys on somethings, alcohol and tobacco products are heavily taxed up here as apose to those in Washington state, I worked in Victoria B.C and made trips to Seattle and Port Angeles on the ferrys so I would not be concerned, our payphones here take CC so if in an emergency and you do not want a big roaming charge on your cell, just pop into a booth insert your card and dial, as you would at home, 1 - area code and the number, there is not international exchange dialing nessessary. |
