Canadians near the peace bridge, how do you feel about buffalo, ny?

I am originally from Niagara Falls, born and raised, and moved away as soon as I possibly could. I loved the Falls, but had to leave to get away from all the American tourists......only so many times you can be asked if the prices are in American without freaking out and screaming "Don't you remember crossing the border???" Buffalo for the most part is a nice place, I have relatives there, and used to play Hockey at Nichols Private school quite often during my teen years. That is in a beautiful area of Buffalo. Its unfortunate most Canadians just driving through the states only get to see the ghetto parts, as they seem to all be located along the sides of your highways.............I also grew up a Buffalo Sabres fan, and have been to hundreds of games throughout the years. I have now converted to the dark side......Leaf fandom, but that's another story.

ghetto

I've been to Buffalo few times and I liked it.

like it, aswell as most of NY/Vermont and the rest of the North East. Other then that...blah.

At night when you look across the river Buffalo looks nice. And to be fair, a few parts of downtown are nice - and they finally are starting to go ahead with the waterfront plans (or so I last heard). I enjoy being close to sports games in Buffalo, and getting their television and radio stations.
But when you look in the day, you can see that is a dreary city compared to the Canadian side. Much more green here, compared to Buffalo with many old, deserted looking buildings in certain areas. Even downtown close to HSBC and everything.
Our side has terrible shopping, at least Buffalo has excellent malls.
So to answer the question, I wouldn't want to live there but I do enjoy being across the river from it.
