Canada or USA? |
why, is Canada more expensize than USA? We have a much smaller population, a much larger land mass, huge distances to transport goods, etc. It is the law of supply and demand partly. The more goods a supplier is selling the lower the price can be because the profit can then be in the amount of goods that is being sold. Here in Canada we tend to have higher salaries in many fields, and we pay more sales tax. There are many reasons. Thank you for the best answer. Report It There is less competition amoung business in Canada than in the US. Competition drives the cost of products down. Also, taxes are much higher in Canada. because americans are cheap we make higher wages pay more taxes go to find a way to fund health care well our money used to be worth less, thats why, but now canadian money is worth the same as american money the canadian prices are dropping but due to imports and stuff the prices still increase US has way more people = way more buying power. You could fit the entire population of Canada into the state of California. Canadians are more conservative when it comes to spending so the money doesn't move around like it does in the US. Not only with health care, but Canadians are just more "socialistic" (read: generous and community oriented) than the US, which is why our taxes are higher and health care in general better. Economies of Scale. Simply put, US population is about 300 M vs 32M in Canada...thus, they can better command bulk pricing from manufacturers. everything has to be printed in two languages, different labeling requirements, import duties and taxes, marketing boards, distributor mark up, the list goes on and on BUT from my experience there are lots of things that are cheaper in Canada than in the US how about prescription drugs for starters. The economies of scale do not really apply because it would only cost a little more to land an import in the states and bring it here. To say that is taking the simplistic approach there are lots of legitimate reasons. However also rack it up to plain old greed becasuse there was a large differential in the dollers the importers and manufacturiers that we have here could always point to the the differenntial and say it costs more to import materials and goods. Well pull the other one now folks. |
