Ebay customs?

Hello,

i've purchased an IPOD from ebay.ca for $119 and i paid $15 for the shipping my friend said that they will make me pay $150 FOR CUSTOMS from Florida to Ontario, Toronto????? is this real?

Florida = States
Toronto = Canada

PLZ i need helP?

Haha oh no no!

Where did you're friend get that number? You do have to pay the taxes though. Which is 13%. So when your item arrives at the post office you'll have to give them $15.47. As long as that is the value amount they wrote on the customs label. If they wrote less (though most people don't) you'll pay less. If they included the shipping costs of $15 (which they shouldn't have) you'd have to pay $17.42.

But also keep in mind if they sent it through FedEx or UPS there will be other charges for using them. I don't know why people ship things UPS. UPS charges like $20 just as one of the fees on top of everything.

Let's hope the seller sent it USPS (United States Postal Services).

You might not have to pay any customs at all, and you might have to pay about 30% - up to about $35. There is no way to tell for sure until it arrives. Often things you buy from ebay from a US buyer arrive without any customs duty being charged.

I'm not from Canada and don't have the customs charges to pay, but from what I've heard from Canadian friends the answer above mine sounds about right.

Perhaps your friend bought a high priced item and just assumed that the charge was the same for everyone instead of a percentage.

Incase you aren't aware of ebay's policy changes that will soon be taking effect. Please take a look at this video that explains them very well and join the 1000's of ebay buyers & sellers who will be boycotting ebay Feb 18th - 25th
