Whats are the pros and cons of living in Kelowna, BC?

I don't live there, but I have been there many many many times.

Pro's
- it's beautiful in the summer (and HOT!)
- beautiful in the winter.
- It's relatively cheap to live there
- there is many outside activities to do.
- it's a close knit community
- it's only 4 hours from Vancouver by Car
- It's close to Penticton, Kamloops
- it's in WINE REGION okanagon
- you get to live with the Ogo Poggo!

Con's
- it's very touristy in the winter (Big White, Silver Star, Sun Peaks mountains are all very busy in that area)
- it's very touristy in the summer (Lake Okanagon is a fairly good sun spot for BCers)
- It gets REALLY cold in the winter.. be prepared for a LOT of snow

It's not a place I wouldn't live... but definietly check out everything (hopefully a local resident will respond to this for you).

EDIT.. it is cold compared to climates like say Vancouver.

It's not cold in Kelowna in the winter. It's cold everywhere else in Canada, but not southern British Columbia.

Of course I live in one of those cold places, so it's all relative.

Good points: relatively compact, mild climate, comparatively low cost of living--at least when compared with cost of housing in places like Calgary, Vancouver and Victoria.

Bad points: comparatively isolated.
