Can a U.S. citizen live and work in Canada? Only citizens and permanent residents have a right to live and work in Canada however you may apply for a work permit and once you hold a work visa or permit, your wife may be able to apply for a work visa You need special visa's to work in Canada. When you apply for most jobs it asks if you are a Canadian citizen right on the application. Most companies can't hire foriegn people (usa included). But, if you are of a profession that is needed in the country you can. if you go through the immigration process yes you can Sure you can, BUT!! YOU HAVE TO APPLY TO LIVE HERE BEFORE ENTERING CANADA, unless you're a refugee from a war torn country, then you show up at the border, the nice man at immigration will tell you Hello, give you medi-care, find you a place to live, give you welfare, help you exhaust every appeal process up to Parliament, then kick you out for 1 day and you can start all over again. |
