Should i go to brazil or thailand?

Please give positives and negatives for either one. Food, nightlife, language, etc. I just want to fly over and bum around. I was wondering what prices were like and if it was possible to just go around with no real plan and be able to find a place to stay

Hummmm I am Brazilian so I will tell you to go to Brazil... but I will answered you honestly since I know both countries:

Brazil: you can def go there and find a place to stay. But keep in mind that Brazil is a huge country (like the USA) and travelling between other cities and even other states will take lots of time. For instance if you are going to Rio de Janeiro, which is absolutely a beuaitufl city (despite all the midia about the unsafety) and then decide to go to the North of bRasil (must go) it can be about 3 hours by plane or a few days by driving. So keep that in mind. You will probably want to plan your trip if you are planning to visit different areas.
Although I think the media plays a bit part of spreading the word that Brasil is a very dangerious country, you must at all time be cautions. Do not wear too much jewelry because "pick pocket" is very common (so are in some cities in Europe). Food is good and water is very safe in most of the big cities but my advise is to always drink bottle water or fresh squeezed juice which can be found everywhere in Brasil.
WE do have a problem with mosquitos and the famous mosquitos illness., So please consult with Brazilian embassy near your city to find out if you need to get any shot and also ask for information pamphlets on this mosquitos (dengue).
Nightlife is great specially in the big cities. Sao Paulo is known for having one of the most beautiful clubs in the world. Smaller cities don't offer night clubs but there are tons of very "typical" brazilian bars with live brazilian music and near to the beaches.
Brazilian economy is doing very well. Prices in Brazil are considered high. If you have dollar you won't find it very expensive but it will not find "too cheap" either like in other places in the world (for instance Thailand).

Thailand:
Also beautiful beaches and Island. Deinitely visit KoSAmui and Phii Phi island which are absolutely beautiful. When I was there there were no clubs but many outdoors bars and you will be approached by many "transvestis" because they are many in Thailand specially at the tourist areas.
The food is amazing of course. Thailand is known for been very cheap. I think $20 to $30 dollars should cover your food and hotel per day (maybe even less depending where you will stay).

Wow, that's a tough call. As far as main dishes go and food stands on the streets, I think Thailand is probably better. But Brazil has good coffee, lots of pastries, and chopp (unpasteurized draft beer), so food is probably a draw. In both places, when you wander away from the touristy places you won't find too many English speakers, but people are usually so accommodating that you won't even notice. I didn't get a chance to travel around either country much, other than a brief trip to the beach in Brazil, so I don't know which country is better for that. But really, I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Brazil! they have os many things to do there depending on the city you visit! there are amazing beaches, beautiful waterfalls, and the best of scenery. brazilians are also known to be the best partiers ; ). they speak portuguese in brazil which is close to spanish and a lot of people know english too. the people in brazil are also known as very welcoming and family oriented. my family lives in salvador and they love it. its too bad you just missed carnival too, you should wait to go next year...its the biggest party in the world and its celebrated by the whole country! brazil is also known to have the best soccer players, so you could also go watch a soccer game. there is no competition between the places, Brazil is most def. the place to go! have fun! i wish i could go too :)

I haven't been to Thailand, but many friends & my husband have. All loved it for the food, the beauty of the coastal and mountain areas and the lovely people.

We spent three months in Brazil and loved every moment of it. Food is sensational, as long as you don't mind loads of meat. Salads wonderful & fresh, great snacks, hearty rice & beans. The most awesome juicebars in the world.You can get pretty much most kinds of food here. We found excellent japanese & lebanese cafes. Seafood is great too. And its generally very cheap to eat well.

Nightlife...well, if you love music & dancing & gorgeous boys and girls everywhere, Brazil is the place for you.Of course the beaches are a world unto themselves! Portuguese is the language & you will go far if you learn just a few simple phrases as a courtesy. English is not widely spoken outside of the main tourist areas.

Yes, it can be a dangerous place, but so can the street out the front of your house if there's an idiot driving down it. Be sensible, don't flaunt jewellery or cameras & don't carry alot of cash on you. Book a place to stay for the first few days you are there & then look around/book a bus/plane to another part of the country, or other accom. Loads of great, cheap places to stay if you spend a little time looking for it.
A beautiful guest house away from the main tourist area in Rio, but close to Centro & Lapa, where loads of venues & clubs are is Baron Garden House..we lived there for two months...beautiful old house & lovely family..is in google. Safe and happy travels wherever you decide to go.

I admit to being completely biased on this one - BRASIL!!!

I lived there for several months: love the people, the food, the music, the culture, the language, the natural beauty, are all reasons to go. One drawback, Brasil is a BIG country and trying to see it all would be difficult (though I would recommend Rio, Salvador, Sao Paulo, the beaches in and around those areas. I have a friend who lived in Manaus on the Amazon and said that was amazing.)

I am not that familiar with Thailand, but I have a friend who is very adamant about not supporting Thailand, saying it is "the major importer, exporter and transit country in the international trafficking sex trade." (many children) So, I say NO to Thailand.

Thailand is cheap once you get there, but the airfare is really expensive, nice beaches, nice resorts, good food, good shopping the nightlife is okay, a lot of open bars-
you'd want to go to Phuket for the good beaches. Bangkok is dirty and not so impressive, although the nightlife there is pretty good- but a bit dangerous.

Brazil, Rio the beaches are great, airfare is less expensive , hotels are really expensive , the night life is amazing,
people are really friendly and will interact
(thailand- only the tourist and .... "girls" will interact)

both are amazing, why choose just one, do both, the tough part is which one first!
