Where can i cash american express traveller cheques in Fortaleza, Brazil?

Where can i cash american express traveller cheques in Fortaleza, Brazil?

First - bueno suerte is Spanish and in Brazil they speak Portuguese - Boa Sorte!

Second - most National banks will cash your traveler's checks, but why deal with the hastle? Bring a small amount of cash with you and use the ATM to withdrawal reais (local currency). You get the best exchange rate this way and you can use your atm card everywhere.

According to the first link, below,
Brazil does not easily accept any traveller's check.

The link says that American Express checks are, apparently,
only accepted at American Express offices,
but they are only in a few locations.

The site also says that credit cards are your best bet
(Visa and American Express are, apparently, universally accepted).

However, the second link will give you a list of local banks
that will cash your American Express traveller's checks
without a fee, though you might get a lousy exchange rate from them
(select "Latin America", then "Brazil",
then enter "Forta", then select "Fortaleza").
There's a "Fee-Charging Encashment Locations" link
which lists banks that charge a fee to exchange the checks.
It might be a good idea to print both lists,
if you insist on bringing traveller's checks.

To be on the safe side,
you should consult with a local travel agency,
who would be more than happy to give advice,
even if you don't book with them.

Bueno suerte! (Good luck!)

Any HSBC bank
and they are everywhere

As far as I know, you can cash it in any available bank.

In Fortaleza Airport, we have Banco do Brasil.
In this point, you can exchange travellers without taxes.
