Could I make a career in Brazil?

If I have a Microsoft Certification (world recognized) in computers, would I be able to get a job in Brazil? I think it would be fun to live there for a few years. The warm weather, the nice people, it all sounds like so much fun!

But I want to be able to live fairly well. Warm water, AC, a car, and internet would be nice. But I don't know if this is possible working on computers in Brazil (preferrably southern).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Obrigado!!!

I don't want to be rude with you, but before you considerate to move to another country, try to get some true information about it.

A car ok, that's diferent. That depends on the job that you'll get...how money you'll make...

You said that you have a Microsoft Certification. Here in Brazil we have Microsoft, you can try a job with them.

And is true that the regions in Brazil are very diferent, but in all regions there's big cities, companies, colleges, etc.

For example, in north region, Manaus state (where the rain forest is and most people think that's all the state) has a major industrial center (the Zona Franca of Manaus), witch is a free trade zone. The companies Nokia, Sagem, Gradiente, BenQ-Siemens, Sony, LG and Essilor have plants there and 500 others.

Ah, and is very important tha you learn portuguese to live here, or it will be very dificult to you find a job and specially in day by day... most people don't speak english here.

I am a teacher who got the chance to live in Brazil for a year and a half. It was easily one of the top decisions I have ever made in my life and while I would recommend it for anyone who thinks they want to try it, it should of course be, thoroughly researched and thought out.

Work visas can be difficult for foreigners to obtain in Brazil, because there, like many developing countries, they have a large unemployment problem and preffer to hire their own. Many people who come to Brazil as tourists and realize they want to stay often find work teaching English as many courses will hire people illegally.

For a work visa however, try the oil industry. It is absolutely booming in Brazil right now and they are bringing in engineers, contractors, drillers, computer specialist, etc. from all over the world to work in the various coastal oil cities. The pay is usually very good by Brazilian standards and the benefits for working offshore on the oilplatforms are downright amazing.

I think it will be very hard...first you will need a visa (hard to get), then you will need a job (very hard to get), and then you will need a good salary (extremely hard to get).
Your best shot would be to open your own business in Brazil.

You should apply for jobs in Brazil from where you are, and you might need to learn some Portuguese because people don't speak much english there.
Computer people make very good money if they are qualified, have a degree therefore mostly like you can get a good salary if you are qualified, specially speaking english.
Brazil is expensive but with a good salary which I think need to be at least $4,000 reais por month, you can have a good life and life in a nice city of brazil.
You can definitely find residences with AC, we don't use it much because most of our homes have tile floors and not wooden floors, which makes much cooler during the summer.

Why don't apply for a job with Microsoft or other software companies in Brazil? Don't forget we have all the major firms there!

And although Elia (answer above) makes a good point about Brazil been unsafe, well then you should not move anywhere because brazil is not the only country not really safe. As long as are careful and know the areas not go to, you will be fine.

I think with a Mirco Certif u will do well. Just live in or close to a large city.. such as Sao Paulo. You'll have no prob finding work there i'm sure. you'll just have to reseach which is the hard part. .. researching info from a different country. If you find you need help .. try to find a brazilian community in your city .. or the largest city to you. You could speak to some Brazilians and i'm sure they'll lead you the way. I'm interested in buying a vacation home in Sao Paulo .. but with the lack of info online .. I searched for Brazilians in New Orleans and found out there is a HUGE population here I was unaware of

Speaking of .. if you plan to work there... You will need a work visa which would be quite hard to obtain. Unless you find a job here in the US ... or where ever you live .. and get transfered to Brazil .. which would also be hard.

Or .. if you have the money.. you can buy a cheap piece of property in Brazil. Having property means you will pay taxes in Brazil and you will automatically have a permanent visa .. meaning you'll be a resident and able to work. A nice 2 bed room 2 bathroom house in Sao Paulo state out in the country is only about $40,000 ... and the houses are so much nicer then the card board ones we live in in the US

First of all Brazil is not that great paradise you are talking about... Over the years the violence has increased over 70 or 80% in the whole country so i'll try to go to another place where it can be safe.. Just my opinion man
