Boost/Nextel network is based on CDMA technology, therefore there is no SIM card which is an element of the GSM technology.
The phone may work in Brazil. It depends on the area you will be visiting. Vivo is the CDMA operator in Brazil. Check their coverage area at (www.vivo.com.br). The PTT (Push To Talk) feature may not be available, but you should be able to use the phone to make and receive calls. Keep in mind that international roaming rates are very expensive. You're better off buying a pre-paid phone locally in Brazil upon arrival.
