Is everyone here from Australia?? I need your help!?

I'm actually in London.. don't know why it registered me to the aussie site but I always take things as signs!! Anyhoo, My boyfriend and I are moving to Australia at the end of the year. Where would you suggest is the best place to live?? We like places that have a lot of things to do (restaurants shops etc) but not massively busy like London.
Thankyou!! xxxxx

Thankyou all soo much, I think you're right- I think Melbourne is the place for us. We are coming to stay soon and will do a bit of travelling round to see what each place is like- and then get to work on you lot letting us in! Luckily, my boyfriends work should give us a step up into it so fingers crossed- can't wait to live with all you beautiful people (and you really are so much more attractive than people round here!!!!)

Im an Aussie and i live in Melbourne, its a great place to live, has great people and as other people have said, a great night life. Melbourne is very cultural and has many things to do, you will never be bored :)

I'm a Melbourne girl and love it!!! Heaps to do, great nightlife (plus the bf will be happy coz we get all the sport too!)
Best of luck!

I'd say Melbourne, it's beautiful and i dont think it's busy like London.

Melbournes good for that... Sydney's very busy so if thats not what u want i wouldnt go there.
Also Adelaide's a pretty good city... pretty laidback but heaps of stuff to do,great shops n restaurants!!

Im an Adelaide girl but for what you and your boyfriend want i would say Melbourne is the best place for you to move too!

Melbourne and Sydney are two large cities with more of a chance to get jobs. Both cities have a good variety of entertainment and night life. Sydney is a lot faster and more crowded than Melbourne. Melbourne would have a lot of similarities to England. Hope that's a help to you. Best of luck.

melbourne :)

I'm from Australia, mate. Put another shrimp on the barbie and come on down to my house. I see you've played knifie-spoonie before. Crikey. Maybe Bindi Irwin will be in town when you visit. My address is: 72 Roo Way, Sydney Australia k97-249. Visit me, totally, anytime!

I'm from brisbane but with what your wanting I would suggest Melbourne. It's very cultural, busy and lots of different high quality resturants!!!

Hey I am an Australian living in UK. Depends what you do for a job. I am from Brisbane which is quite a lovely city. Cairns is an awesome place to live. Obviously Sydney is the place most people seem to move to however I do not like the stress that comes from Sydney.

Perth is quite a bit behind the times of the rest of Australia. All the best with the move

Its better if you decide when you get here. Travel and live in cities around Australia then settle to the place which is best suited for both of you. Am sure you will know it when you see it. I wish you both well xxx.

Indeed. There is a reason why Melbourne is the sporting and cultural capital of Australia. Sydney has the landmarks, but we got the rest.

Good cultural diversity means you'll never be short of options for food, and if you happen to live in the city proper, you will have literally thousands of options for tea each night.

Hope the trip goes well, and hope you soon become a permanent Melbournian. I can't get enough poms, especially come cricket time!

I'd suggest Manly in Sydney. It is a quiet small town 30 minutes away from Sydney downtown. It is a small town with beautiful beach. You can have a great holiday here. And if you feel like busy city again, catch a ferry (30 mins ride) and voila, you are in crazy Sydney downtown- party, party, party.

So, Manly is great, not too close to crazy city, not far from city life. Trust me in this one.

Definitely Melbourne. I've just moved back from London and although I miss London there are so many great things about this lifestyle! I walk to work, have breakfast on Brunswick st, can bar hop non stop on the weekend ( melbourne has the best alley bars) but its all within a $10 cab ride from home. And I have a much nicer house here than london! just remember to book yourself a holiday somewhere nice and beachy for at least a couple of weeks in winter...You know fiji is pretty cheap from australia :-)

I'm with the majority...... MELBOURNE!

I'm a Melbourne girl that's done what you're going to do, but in reverse.

Moved to London with my boyfriend to live. The relationship fell through, but I had an amazing experience.

Good luck!

I've got to say Melbourne will be more than suitable for the lifestyle you've described.

If you find you want to change you can always check out other areas of Australia while still living in Melbourne.
We inhabit a very diverse country as you will soon see.

Enjoy your big move and welcome.

I'm from Sydney, it's great place but i would also suggest Townsville too.

MELBOURNE!
