When is it hottest in Australia?

In the states the summer season is hottest from april to august - What about Australia??? When is the summer season and hottest for walking on the beach, i want to visit one day and would like to know the best time.

Summer here is Beginning of December to the end of February.
The Northern half of Australia is in the wet tropics so our Summer is also our rainy season(monsoons and cyclones) so if you are going to visit northern Australia(Broome, Darwin, Cairns, Whitsundays) our best time is from May to September - it is still hot by US standards - Darwin where I live still has maximums of about 33deg Celsius (sorry I don't know Fahrenheit) and overnight lows of 19deg Celsius.
Also we can't swim in northern Australian beaches in Summer because of the deadly box jelly fish. Unfortunately I'm not joking about that.
The best time to visit the Southern half of Australia would be over our Summer - and you can swim/surf etc there.
The

Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide Summer is Dec to Feb Southern Australia has 4 seasons. We have snow in the mountains in Winter great skiing, winter is June July August .
The Brisbane and Gold Coast is great all year around . we can still swim in the sea during Winter but can get some cool nights. Above the Tropic of Capricorn They have 2 seasons, The wet and the Dry. The Dry season from April to September. The wet can be very humid and uncomfortable. Although almost all accomodation has air conditioning. If it's beach walking you like to do we have 40 kilometres of superb beaches on The GoldCoast . More beaches On The Sunshine Coast which is just North of Brisbane and Northern NSW yet more again for walking any time of year. If you go to Western Australia around the Perth area or South of Perth I would choose late Spring to early Autumn. from November to March.

Generally, Australia has four seasons.
Summer goes from beginning of December to the end of February.
February is typically known as the hottest month if you want to come.

December - Febuary is summer but the hottest month is January.

January is our hottest month as it is right in the middle of Summer. But you wouldn't want to be walking on the beach in January's 40degree heat in places like Cairns or even Melbourne is unbearable!
