Has anyone been to Queensland, AU?

I'm thinking of going to Queensland, AU and I was just wondering what time of year is best and which airport one would fly in to?

Thanks!!! :)

I'll be coming out of Omaha, NE or if need be I can fly out of Chicago, IL.

Brisbane and Cairns are both International airports in Queensland - Brisbane is the busier one though, they are at opposite ends of Queensland.
Best time of the year .. well it really depends on what you want to do and where you are going. Australia is huge and weather can vary.
Summer - Dec, Jan, Feb
Autumn - March, April, May
Winter - June, July, August
Spring - Sept, Oct, Nov
Top end of Queensland though has wet and dry seasons as it's tropical.

Between Cairns and Brisbane it is an overnight ride on the train, so that will give you an idea on distance.

Have a great trip

Where are you flying from?

Brisbane would be the main airport, however there are a few others hence where are you flying from?

You can fly from LA to Brisbane direct on Qantas it would take about 14hrs.

The person below is correct about the weather however winter in Queensland is not that bad. Come to think of it this is the best time to go. That is why the southern parts of Australia migrate up north in winter : ) July/August. Mid-day temperatures hover around 20C (68F). Nights get down to around 10C (50F). But if you go in our Summer time (January/February) average around 30C+ (86F). Summer nights are typically sub-tropical with evenings averaging around 20C (68F).

Qantas is part of oneworld so is American Airlines.

Yes, I've been to Australia( several times ) . You should probably fly in to Brisbane. Remember, their "seasons" are just opposite of ours. July is winter-time there. Dec. is summertime ! You may have to fly into Sydney, then catch another flight to Brisbane.Be advised, the cost of living there is higher than ours. ( They have to import most of their goods ). For a weeks stay, you should try to have about $2000.00 in your pocket. BE CAREFUL OF SCAM_ARTISTS !

Yes I live here. You can fly into either Cairns or Brisbane. If you choose Cairns do so if it's between April and September. which is the dry season . The wet season can get monsoonal rains ,cyclones and be very humid. But then you could work your way South . Brisbanes weather is good all year around and just 1 hour South of Brisbane is The GoldCoast. So really you could fly into one and out of the other. There are some super places to visit in between . Don't miss Airlie Beach where you can get a boat to many of the Islands in The whitsundays. Have a great trip
