Siem Reap to Saigon via Phonom Penh?

Planing an overland trip from Siem Reap to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) via Phonom Penh. Which one is better, Bus vs. Expressed Boat? How long does it takes? By boat, REP to PP or PP to Saigon whihc is better? how long does it takes?

from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh you can use both bus or boat, i dont think express boar are available todays cos of thier bankrupcy,(now only speed boat) but if it's available, express boat is faster than bus but it expensive i am not sure the price for foreigner but it should be 45$ per person and you can see the famous Tonle Sap lake where the Ancient Khmer Empire build their city near it, if you read the khmer history you'll notice that Khmer Navy sent thousand vessel to fight Vietnam through this lake.

by bus, it takes more than 4 hrs but it is cheap, but i think you will stay in PP for a night to take a bus to Saigon cos i dont think they have the bus at 3pm or so to saigon.

guest house is cheap, start from 15$ you can find almost everywhere in PP.
from PP to Saigon may be more that 6 hrs or so.
