Why Americans are not interest to travel in Asia?

There are a few noteworthy reasons:
1. They may not want to travel to a nation that doesn't speak English. Many Americans want to go to Ireland, the U.K., and Australia.
2. It's not Europe, so they think the culture and people are too strange. They don't like the idea of experiencing culture shock.
3. Most Americans who learn foreign languages study Spanish and other European languages, so they want to go where they can speak those (Spain, Latin America, France, Germany, Italy, etc.) Asian languages intimidate many Americans, so they don't study them.
4. Many Americans feel connected to Europe because their ancestors are from one or more European nations.
5. Misconceptions about Asia lead many Americans to assume that it's unsafe, dirty, etc. when in actuality it is highly dependent upon where you go.
6. Many schools don't teach about Asia, so many Americans know very little about it. Some people become more intrigued when they don't know about something, but often, people become interested in things that they DO know about, so they become interested in Europe, which history classes in high schools always teach as "world history".

Speaking in general terms, I'd speculate that one of the reasons could be that most of Asia is Muslim. For obvious reasons, an American wouldn't necessarily feel safe in Muslim territory.

I'm very interested. I would love to go to Japan, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Vietman, Thailand, and India, but I can't afford it. Japan is very expensive, and airplane tickets are starting at $1000. Also, I like to go to places where I know the language, even just a little bit. I don't have the time to study Japanese or Chinese etc... because I'm currently studing German and Spanish, plus going to work and school. I'll get to Asia some day, but first I have to get a steady job, and graduate from college.

which American you are talking about?
I met some American who were very interested in traveling to Asia.
Some who are not interested are those who doesnt know that there pieces of beautiful world outside USA, ignorant, only watch CNN for the rest of their life, uneducated, no passport and possibly never been out of America.

coz i dun think its justified to claim this.... coz during my travels, most of the foreign travellers i meet during my trips in SEA, most of them are americans....
btw... there are quite a lot of americans working in S'pore.

Most Americans are too lazy to travel abroad. If it's not Western Europe or the Carribean, forget about it.

Asia is too far, too expensive, and too inconvenient for people to go. They think: "Why should I go overseas when I have everything I need here at home?" Too many people are stuck in their comfort zones.

To correct you on there... why are SOMe Americans not interested to travel in Asia?

Why some? Because i know a lot of americans who travel all over asia and would want to travel to asia... The last time i checked, i saw a lot of americans in the Philippines (while i was still there)

And when my cousin just came back from her vacation there (about 2-3 weeks ago).. she told me she saw a lot of foreigners i.e. koreans, americans and etc...visiting and was also surprise that when she boarded the plane, only a few filipino were there

And as for those Americans that wont travel to Asia... they probably have their own reasons not too. One answer can't justify and generalize that everyone has the same reasons of not wanting to go.
