Travelling to the Gambia pregnant...?

My friend is thinking about going on holiday 6 months pregnant in Feb to Gambian coast for a week. She will not be able to have any injections or take any malaria pills... will she be safe?

Statistically speaking, she should be fine, but she should be sure to bring both mosquito repellent with DEET in it (which I suppose might also harm the baby) and a mosquito net, just in case. Depending on where she is staying, they should have mosquito nets already there, but you never know.

I'm not sure if she will be able to get into the country without at least a jab for Yellow Fever, as it's required in most West African countries, and many check at the airport.

In general, though, going to Gambia 6 months pregnant is not the smartest idea ever. But the probability is very low that something bad would happen.
