Question about Iranian culture?

I'm reading a book in which there is a family of Iranians. However I have a question about the way they address eachother, for example there is a character called Susan and they always refer to her as Susi-june why do they do this and what does it mean

Its an affectionate term meaning " dear ". So it would be like saying "dear susi". They also say joonam, meaning "my dear" , in response to a question.

Here's an example

child: "Mommy, mommy?"
mother: "joonam? (yes dear?)
child asks his question

another example, one might say
"Wheres Sara-joon?"

Which book are you reading if you don't mind my asking?
