Why is it impossible for ships to sail from Africa's interior to the sea?

there are no rivers deep enough or wide enough to support a large ship from the very interior to the sea.

Take a look at a map, and you will see for yourself how small the rivers and tributaries are in central africa.

Small ships can navigate rivers, but if there isn't a big river leading to the interior of a continent (like e.g. the Amazon does in South America) then it is impossible for ships to sail from the interior to the sea.
