Do you care about the starving children in Africa?

Do you care about the starving children in Africa?

Most children in Africa are not starving (though some definitely are).
Most children in Africa are very poor (ie. their diet is not as healthy is it should be, they lack proper shoes, clothing school books, and other necessities that we take for granted).
The children I have met in Africa (I have visited 35 African countries) all care immensely about education and would do anything to get their hands on books. In one village I remember seeing about 25 children sharing a single book (the older kids would read to the younger ones and spell out the words in the dirt). Ironically, many children in countries like the U.S. and Canada, where education is freely available, don't care about education at all.
Many of the African kids I have met are much more informed about the U.S., Canada and Europe than people in the U.S., Canada and Europe are informed about Africa!
I encourage you to learn more about Africa and visit an African country one day. (You could start by reading the wikipedia articles on Africa and the 53 countries in Africa). Africa is a place full of wonderful people. Everyone I know who has gone has said it has changed their life.
Good luck!

sure, wish i could take them all in :) or at least get them and their familiy's the food they need, and i mean a regular supply. not a rashin. just one person here can't do it all :(,but i truly wish i could.

why the hell should i? there are starving people in this country, and last i heard, charity starts at home.

Care? No. Wish they weren't starving? Yes. But it's their own fault for not choosing democracy when they received independence. Africa wasn't starving when it was under colonial management.

Let's hope all this recent violence in Kenya leads to something worthwhile, like free and fair elections.
