What kind of fun activities could I do if I visited the Congo in Africa?

Which Congo do you mean? There are two: Democratic Republic of Congo and Congo - Brazzaville. One was a Belgian colony and was called Zaire after gaining independence, then became DRC about 10 years ago. The other was a French colony and because Congo upon gaining independence. Usually it's DRC (former Zaire) that people are talking about.

Regardless of the one you're referring to, I don't think that there are tons of "fun" activities in Congo at this time - it wouldn't be my first spot to send someone visiting Africa for the first time. That being said, from friends I know who have been there, there's some beautiful scenery in the East, and you can climb up the side of an active volcano in Goma and spend the night there. The capital, Kinshasa is meant to be really full of great music and dance, but not particularly safe.

I'd recommend going to Tanzania, South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Ghana, Togo, Senegal or Mali for your first trip to Africa as a starter.
