Ali Al Salem, Kuwait?

Has anyone ever been there? If so, what is it like? How is phone and internet access? I am going with the Air Force next week. What is the weather like? Is there a website? I tried to google it but didn't find anything worth reading.I know you have to weat PT gear but is it the issued gear that you have to wear?

If you are in the Air base you will feel at home and also you will get royal treatment from the people servicing the airbase. Phone and net access is cheap and you can get wireless internet connection anywhere in Kuwait. The weather currently is very cold especially in desert areas. In summer time it is extremely hot averaging 48 degrees celcius.

GO GOOGLE TYPE Americans in Ali Al Salem, Kuwait LOTS OF STUFF THERE

After Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990, they took over Ali al Salem Air Base in central Kuwait. They also moved their aircraft forward to this airfield. When Desert Storm kicked off in January 1991, one of the top priorities of the US was to destroy Saddam Hussein's flying forces. In that initial effort, the US launched missile strikes against much of this airfield, and destoryed the hardened aircraft shelters.

If you can get on this Kuwaiti base, you can't miss the huge concrete bunkers with 20-30 foot diameter holes in the roofs and sides. Some of the explosions hurled blocks of cement 200 feet in every direction.

According to local legend, the shelters were constructed by the French with the guarantee they would be bomb proof. After they were destroyed, the Kuwaitis refused to pay for shelters that didn't meet the bomb-proof guarantee. The French response was they were guaranteed to be bomb proof unless the Americans attacked!

If you had a chance to get out of the base & take a tour in the city, please visit us in the Kuwaiti memorial Meuseum: www.indcjournal.com/archives/002905.php

Or google "not to forget museum"

Many American solders & officers had visited us before & they like it. I'm sure you will to!
