How expensive is it to climb mount kilimanjaro? I am not talking about getting there but hiring guides, food etc.

Usually a trip will cost about $750 for the most basic and budget safari, and anything on up from there. I'd budget at least $1000 to do it not totally shoe string.

It's the park fees that are expensive, and you are required to hire guides and I think porters as well.

If you're on a serious budget, go climb Mt. Kenya instead. It's nearly as tall (you'll still get altitude sickness), and the fees are much cheaper. Plus, Kili is basically a big old mound, whereas Mt. Kenya is all jaggedy and pointed at the top, so is much prettier in general.
