What is (qat)what's in it and? |
what's good or bad about it?what do you think? Qat/Khat is simply a leaf that grows on a native tree in Yemen, and some parts of Africa. Chewing it has a mildy narcotic uplifting effect. It is considered generally to be haram as it does have intoxicating effects. Some scholars in Yemen only say it is makruh and not actually haram. But this is the very minority opinion. No good at all comes from it,. as Yemenis spendly nearly 1/3 of their income on it. It is EVerywhere in Yemen, Somalia and other places. i know that both men and women are fond of chewing it , esp in Yemen . Qat is a leaf that is huge in Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia and Yemen. Usually the men chew it in their mouths while drinking tea. It's a drug and it's illegal in the U.S. My grandma (in Ethiopia) actually owns a qat farm. lol. qat / chat is a classified as a psychotropic drug, but for traditional reasons it is chewed in horn of africa and yemen. asilasih ballah la |
