Arabic Food?

I have an Arabic boyfriend who lived in Palestine for over half his life, and he now lives in America. I want to surprise him with some Arabic food for his birthday dinner, because he really misses the food over there.
Any suggestions? Main course..appetizer..dessert?

Hummus (chick pea dip), stuffed vine leaves, babaghanoush (roasted eggplant dip), tabbouleh (parsley, bulgar 'salad'), mansaf (roasted lamb with rice - an international dish).
Namourrah (Harisa) is a very nice dessert or baklawa/baklava....and arabic coffee.
Arak is an aperitif...it's similar to Ouzo. You can drink it straight or with a little water and it turns into a 'milky' colour...it lessens the strength but awesome flavour...tastes like licorice/anise. Many drink it with their meals.

Invest in a very good Arabic cookbook. I highly recommend "The Complete Middle East Cookbook" by Tess Mallos. It's available on Amazon.com in paperback for under $20.

Appetizer: Baba Ghanouj with pita bread
Main course: Lemon chicken
Dessert: Baklawa

1.sambusak which is a thin pastry that has either cooked ground meat or vegetables or both in it and is folded into triangles and fried.
2.Fetta which is rice with tomato garlic sauce and you put boiled or steamed meat pieces over it.
3.bokhary rice which has mixed spices in it and za3faran and nuts and is made with chicken on the side that is cooked with onions.
4.For dessert, Baklowa which is thin pastry like the sambusak but a little thinner and it is layered with nuts,ground cinnamon, and margirine. you bake it and then when u take it out u put about 1 cup of simple syrup on top.
