Do the children in Gambia have to supply their own pens before they can go to school? |
we are going on holiday to Gambia early Feb. and have read that this is so , can anyone confirm it? please? also anything that the kids/orphanages are needing? are crayons/colouring books wanted? a visitor wrote Yes all of those but you must deliver them by hand,My sister did the same in Chile. If you send them by post they just end up being stolen and sold on the streets,Well done and have a Happy holiday and New Year. They need everything! Anything like books, crayons and pens are needed. I'm from Zimbabwe and although I went to a government school I still had to pay for all my books, pens or anything like that and on top of that there was also a huge fee for the education. Now I don't expect that the orphans will pay for their school but Gambia like any third world country needs those items. If they can hardly afford food for the day then I dread to think what the orphans need. It's a cruel world unfortunately! |
