Prison Conditions in Oman?

Can anyone tell me what the prison conditions are like in Oman?

ok well being a bit more specific, what are the prison conditions like in Muscat for an Omani guy...for theft?

Criminal Penalties

In Oman you can expect penalties and punishments ranging from fines (for simple traffic offences) to jail terms for serious crimes. Penalties for possession, use, or trafficking in illegal drugs are strict in Oman, and convicted offenders can expect long jail sentences, fines, and possibly the death sentence.

Punishment in Oman is considered harsh but not abusive. Prison conditions are closely regulated and generally well kept. Traditional Islamic punishments such as stoning or amputation are not carried out. Death sentences are rare and must be ratified by the Sultan.

Prison Conditions in Oman? Well, you defenitely can not go by wikipedia etc. It depends on where in Oman, it depends on the crime commited, where the prison is located, who is in charge of it and it also depends of the nationality of the jailed person. It also depends on the Religon the prisoner have and if he/she did something against Sharia Law.

If you are asking because you are concerned about a person being in jail, you have to be a bit more specific. If you ask in general: over crowded cells, bad treatment etc.

Every foreign prisioner has the right to contact his/her Embassy.

Hope you do not ask because of personal reasons.

Take care.

agree with shay . surroundings will be very basic
