I want to visit cape verde, anyone been ! also i will be solo and it seems expensive to go by yourself ?

I went to Cape Verde a couple years ago and had the best time of my life (I live in tourist hot spot!). Cape Verde is ideal for people who do not want to do anything else than relax or surfing. If you are prepared right, there are only pros to visit these islands.
You do not need any vaccines but you do need a visa which should be provided by your travel agency.
I do not know which Island you will stay and assume you will fly into Sal. In Sal we had to stay for 2 nights. 1. night was terrible. This Hotel was a hole in the wall, where as (after we complained) the 2. hotel was just beautifull.
From Sal we went on to the Island Boavista and had a beautiful house. I mean BEAUTIFUL with a maid coming over on daily basis to clean up.
Visiting the Cape Verde Islands it is necessary to book "all inclusive" because these Islands are so poor that you will not get anything to prepare a meal on our own like you are used to. On Sal the food was very disspointing whereas on Boavista is was just exquisite. Many fish dishes (mostly tuna). After you pay your flight ticket and your hotel there are no more living costs left. It's hard to spend any money on Cape Verde because there hardly is nothing to buy.

On Sal: Sal is developing the tourism and has some high rises. People book all inclusive and you have to fight for your food, it's not great but acceptable. Many Africans hanging out in Sal to sell their African staff.

On Boavista: only 1 hotel complex, means the main house (no highrise) and otherwise just houses build into the mountains. White sand beaches, only a few tourists. Hardly no "restaurants", but places where you can eat. It's like getting in somebody's livingroom.

Do some Island hopping. Check out Fogo. I was not there but will be next time.

The Cape Verde belong to one of the poorest countries and it is amazing how friendly and open minded these people are. They hardly do not speak any English, but you will understand each other. Cigarettes still will be sold single and when you buy a carton you will confuse the Salesperson. We took videos cameras with us but did not use them. When we saw how poor these people were it just did not feel right to film them with a camera costing more than they might make in a year. When we left we gave out maid a tip which did not mean anything to us, just to find out later that we gave her a whole montly salary. But - it's okay. These people are very nice!

Just 2 more things: there is hardly no crime on Cape Verde and it is essential to have a private health insurance because health care is very poor. Just in case, that you can be taking back home. Also take a sweater or jacket with you, because the wind can be kind of chilly.

Take care!
