What do students do for fun in Galway?

I'm thinking about studying at NUIG and wonder what students do on a regular basis for fun. Are there any major hubs/hangouts or traditional outings or do people kind of go off on their own and do their own thing? Any answers will be appreciated-Thanks!

I went to NUIG for a semester aborad and loved it. There is a pub on campus which a lot of people hang out at. they also have a lot of clubs that you can join i signed up for hip hop and had a great time and met some really nice people. I also went out a lot to pubs in city center and went shopping. I mean Its a lot like the states its a much smaller city than Dublin but still lots to do. there are tours that you can take from the bus depot such as trips to the cliffs of Moher, and aaran islands both great day trips. You can visit other cities on the weekend. If you meet some people at college and become friends and they go home for the weekend they may invite you over and that could be fun. I mean there are lots of things to do pubs, movies, shopping, day tours, dog track, sports etc

I'm a student from Dublin living in Galway. My friends and I hang out at: The Front Door, The Quays, Massimo's, the Blue Note, the Roisin Dubh, Monroes, and Halo. Day trips departing from outside/near the train station are worth doing. Go out to the Aran Islands, out to Connemara, down to the Cliffs of Moher. The Killary adventure centre is great fun. A shuttle bus goes from the Galway citycentre Sleepzone to the Sleepzone Connemara hostel (which is beside the adventure centre).
