Going to florence?

i am going to Florence for 8 weeks to attend a language school because i really want to learn some Italian.
I am 17 so i was wondering what there is for young people and i am definantly interested in history and art. And if there is anything any of you can recomend?

Hi! I'm writing from Florence, I'm Italian and I was born and raised here in Florence!
Lately we've had some big issue about traffic so you might have a hard time if you want to go from one place to another with the bus but luckily the city center is quite small and you can basically walk everywhere!
My very favourite spot in Florence is the view from SAN MINIATO A MONTE, take the bus number 12 from the train station and go all the way to PIAZZALE MICHELANGELO. When you get there keep walking uphill and you will eventually find -you might want to ask once you're there- a big stairway that will lead you to a Church on top of the hill, the view from up there is absolutely the best you can get!
Make sure you don't miss walking from PIAZZA DELLA SIGNORIA, by the DUOMO, to the LUNGARNI, there's the entrance of the UFIZI and in the evening is really nice, lots of people and a very nice atmosphere!
As far as young people, in Florence there's many bars and pubs where kids hang out, especially in the city center!
I hope you will enjoy your stay!!!

Florence is beautiful. The Galleria degli Uffizi is a very highly recommended Gallery to visit. Florence has very beautiful architecture all around. You can also take Florence Guided Tours that take you to the city's most highly acclaimed places.

I recommend you open your senses: ears, eyes, taste, & touch. Make lifelong friends, they will be pleased to show you the best florence offers, and don't forget to eat the ice cream...

Florence is the BEST place i've ever been to! u can just take walks alone in the city, and for sure you'll find plenty of young people just hanging around, near the great cathedrals and in the piazzas, near cafes... lots of them are students, architecture, arts, language, fashion... from foreign countries, and Italians. So about young people, you'll find them for sure.
and about ice cream... definitely! you have 2 try it!
get tickets to the Uffizi early, online or something, the line is just cruel!! but it's worth it. Enjoy!

Florence is a very best place, you can learn italian among arts and beautifull places, such as "giardino boboli", "gli uffizi", duomo, SAnta maria novella and other beautifull places!!!!!!

I can say just one thing: there is a restaurant, in via dell'agnolo, where you can eat a wonderful fiorentina (it is beef).. It's cheap but not so chic...
