Can I use your bathroom please?

My Old Boys Rugby team will be in Edinburgh September 1-8 next year for The World Golden Oldies Rugby Festival. One of our group recently sent out an email to all of us about a law he read about for Scotland. Evidently, if I knock on the door of your home and ask to use the bathroom, you have to let me? Two questions:

1. Is this law real?

2. Would you let me?

It appears to be true, one of those old statutes that has never been repealed. Mind you there are some places in Edinburgh that I wouldn't knock on the door, never mind going inside to use the bathroom.
Enjoy your visit and I hope your rugby team are never desperate enough to ask at someones front door to use their bathroom, one would probably be OK but 15 is pushing your luck.

yes, it is true,

I doubt it surely it's up to the home owner who they do and don't let in.
and as I'm the home owner sure you can use my bog

Another urban myth although I don't think anyone in Edinburgh would see you stuck. They are among the friendliest people in the world. Enjoy you're visit, you'll love it.

I'd require you to provide me two forms of photo identification and a security deposit.

I don't think the law is real. You will need to find some "new friends" in Edinburgh before the festival begins.

strange but true lol also in scotland its illegal for a woman to go up a ladder wearing a skirt!! thats not a joke but still yeah come use my loo if you feel the need
